Strange Fruit Project - The Healing
You may not be familiar with the Strange Fruit Project but be assured they will not be flying under the radar for long. The group consists of two rappers, Myth and Myone and the DJ/Producer Symbolic One. Having released two albums independently. They created a major buzz on the underground circuit. Fortunately that buzz traveled all the way to OM records where they got the record deal their talents deserved. That brings us to The Healing, a fourteen track offering of bangin' beats with jazzy melodies. The producers on this album are also from hip-hop's A-list. Jake One, Symbolic One, Illmind and 9th wonder. Together they have created a consistent sound to complement the group's positive vibes. The track "The ready forum" finds Myth and Myone trading verses over a S1 beat. One of the highlights of the disc is the track "Get Live featuring Erykah Badu". Badu blesses the track throughout while Illmind creates the hypnotic beat. You'll find it hard to resist nodding your head to this jam. "Special" is another winner. Produced by 9th wonder whose trademark has become providing old school soulful beats doesn't disappoint. While much of today's hip-hop is comprised of bling bling and other forms of commercialism, Myone and Myth provide thought provoking lyrics that remind you why you loved hip-hop in the first place. Don't sleep on these boys, they plan on being around for awhile. Do yourself a favor and check out "The Healing".
